Facebook warning for sending friend request

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:20 pm

I need 22 new neighbors to get the Winter Wonderland coin expansion....so I sent requests to some people I saw posting on my friends' walls. I got the following warning from Facebook:

Friend Request Notice
We received feedback that you sent friend requests to people you don?t know, which isn?t allowed on Facebook. Please only send friend requests to people you know, like classmates, family, friends and coworkers. Otherwise, you could be blocked from sending friend requests. I understand the friend request rules above. (I had to click accept here).

Everyone I know playing farmville is already my neighbor....my only option for new farmville neighbors is asking strangers. So what am I supposed to do?

I know you have a thread where you can get new neighbors.....but it says, "Please only send friend requests to people you know, like classmates, family, friends and coworkers." So theoretically, I'd still be breaking Facebook rules because these are strangers.

gameshs, it's not fair of you to set us up to violate Facebook TOS rules to play the game. You need to work this out with Facebook since we can't contact them.

Try using the "Add Me" section of this forum. These are people that want to have neighbors for FV...maybe some you contacted didn't want new neighbors...they could have reported you.

It sounds like maybe someone reported you as spam or something.

I would only contact people via the Add me section since you know they are looking for new neighbors.

Thanks, Rocktown Gal....and I probably will. But here's my point. None of the people in the add me section are my "classmates, family, friends or coworkers" so I'm still violating Facebook Terms of Service. They are more likely to accept me there, but I'm still risking losing my Facebook account for violating their Terms of Service.

Hi, Jenn985. I know when you delete a facebook friend request it asks you if you know the person, etc. I just leave it blank when I delete a request....someone obviously clicked on the statement that they don't know me.

As far as I can remember you are only allow to add so many people a day...maybe you went over your limit...I think its 5...but not sure.

My son doesn't have a lot of neighbours and doesn't like adding strangers, so what we did was this. Friends of mine that I've known through the game, sent him friends requests, so it didn't look like he was sending a whole whack of them out at the same time. A few times when he did send out a friends request he got a pop up asking him if he knew that person, he clicked yes, and it was okay. I think when you add a whole bunch of people at once, Facebook gets suspicious.

Another way is to get friends that you already have to refer some of their neighbours to you that might need the same thing you do. I get these requests all the time and accept them. Sometimes I find that players just need someone else to send out item requests too if they have a lot of inactive neighbours. But your right, we shouldn't have to add people we don't know in order to get out of paying the FC option for farm expansion.

Good luck with ^that^, too! I've only added (or attempted to add) players from the "Add Me" section here and I've still take several days ban for it...twice now, even though they were the ones wanting/requesting neighbors in the first place.

You can always add your name to the "add me" list. If you're requesting them, then there isn't much fear of violating TOS.

I really do appreciate your responses and suggestions. What I'd also like is a moderator who can explain why gameshs requires me to do something that is a Facebook TOS violation.

That's a very good idea, but then it puts the people requesting me to be their facebook friend to violate FB TOS.

I really wish I could play gameshs games without Facebook involved.

If you just need to satisfy the requirement to buy an expansion, try this.

Way at the bottom of the "add neighbors" tab is a box explaining Farmville Friends. Check that box and when your page refreshes you will see people at the top of that same page that you can add. There is still a limit per day, but I've found most of those people will accept the request immediately, since they are needing neighbors for the same reason as you. These neighbors can't see your live feed so they won't be able to click on posts etc but they can send special delivery boxes (by the ton lol) and you can send raffle ticket requests to them.

They do not become Facebook friends, just Farmville Friends and you should be able to buy your farm expansion pretty quickly. Good luck!

Thanks for mentioning it, Honey. After my experience I'm going to do this.

that makes no sense, I have lots of neighbors that I did not know before I added them. Sounds like there is more to it then they are telling you.

One of the newly created problems with Facebook and using the Add Me thread is that people often ask you to note the game in the request -- which is perfectly logical.

The last few times I used it to add friends, it didn't give me the chance to add a comment -- it just posted the friend request. I actually had someone who posted on the Add Me thread report me as "unknown" because I hadn't noted which game I was playing.
